Woodland, CA (January 15, 2025) – To honor watermelon farms throughout the United States, Syngenta launches its Grown for Generations campaign.

Grown for Generations is a campaign inspired by those who have dedicated their lives to growing watermelon for families across the United States. The key messaging of the Grown for Generations campaign focuses on three pillars: Long-Term Success, Resilience and Grit, and Legacy and Partnership.

Long-Term Success acknowledges that watermelon growers face unique challenges, and that long-term success is more than a single season’s harvest, it is often measured in lifetimes. Many watermelon growers have passed their farms down through generations, others are just starting out, blazing new trails. The Grown for Generations campaign celebrates all growing family farms.

“Syngenta is committed to supporting farms through every stage of their development, fostering the kind of success that is truly Grown for Generations,” said Juan Pablo Lopez, Territory Head Vegetable Seeds, United States and Canada. “Our priority is to deeply understand the complexities and challenges of modern farming, and we remain steadfast in our customer-first approach, conducting extensive field trials and researching our seeds. We take immense pride in forging strong partnerships with growers, working alongside them to ensure their continued success and prosperity.”

With growers at the heart of everything, Syngenta focuses on understanding watermelon farmers' challenges. The campaign's second pillar, "Resilience and Grit," acknowledges the unwavering determination that is woven into the fabric of agricultural life. This enduring spirit of perseverance serves as the cornerstone for the prosperity of family-run farms, highlighting the essential nature of tenacity in the farming community.

“Our long-time favorite watermelon genetics embody the same grit and resilience as our watermelon growers and contribute to their long-term success,” shared Walkyhr Macy, Syngenta Customer Experience Specialist, Western U.S. “Farmers have cultivated resilience within themselves, and we are proud to offer products that match their resilience.”

The final pillar of the Grown for Generations campaign is Legacy and Partnership. Legacy and Partnership is the embodiment of the longevity the watermelon industry has achieved and continues to work toward. Syngenta aims to deliver to partners sustained longevity and unwavering consistency.

“At Syngenta we honor grower traditions, values and the wisdom gained through years of hard work, perseverance, and experience,” said Fernanda Ferraro, Head of Customer and Brand, United States and Canada. “Our innovative products are deeply rooted in the strong partnerships we've cultivated with growers across the United States and around the world.”

Syngenta’s watermelon portfolio is packed with diverse varieties designed to meet market demands.

“Our ongoing investment in breeding programs is driven by our deep understanding of growers' evolving needs," Juan Pablo Lopez explained. "We recognize the critical importance of supporting growers in maintaining consistent, high-quality production, especially as they face ever-changing challenges that include the far-reaching impacts of climate change, insects, diseases, and other pests. By developing resilient crop varieties and innovative solutions, we aim to help farmers adapt to these changing patterns. Through these efforts, we strive to bolster the longevity and legacy of family farms, solidifying our position as an integral and trusted partner within the industry."

The Grown for Generations campaign is rolling out across the country this year. Syngenta is honored to celebrate our nation’s watermelon growers.
