Syngenta UK is set to showcase its latest vegetable seed innovations at its annual Open Days event this October. The two-day exhibition, themed "Yield without Pause: Let our Strong Portfolios do the Heavy Lifting," will take place in Surfleet, Lincolnshire on October 8-9, 2025.

In a unique addition to this year's program, Syngenta has introduced a strength challenge, drawing a parallel between physical strength and the robustness of their seed varieties.

The event promises to demonstrate how Syngenta's robust seed portfolios can help growers maximise their productivity while maintaining consistent year-round yields.

The Open Days will feature several key attractions designed to give agricultural professionals hands-on experience with the latest seed technologies. Breakthrough broccoli innovations offer climate and disease resistance

Macdui is an outstanding variety featuring clubroot resistance (CRR), superior head quality, and enhanced plant health. Sambuco serves as an all-season variety, delivering strong plant resilience, clubroot resistance, consistent field performance, and optimised yield. Tengri, a dual-purpose variety ideal for Summer/Autumn cultivation, offers a 75-day growth cycle and systemic downy mildew (SDM) tolerance.

 

Extensive white cabbage portfolio provides market-aligned variety choices

Syngenta is expanding its white cabbage breeding program with more than ten new varieties specifically developed for processing and retail markets.

Kilafest, developed for the processing market, combines clubroot and Fusarium resistance with extended storage capability until June. It features a round shape, strong internal structure, uniform growth, enhanced wax coating, and superior long-term storage. Its head weights range from 1.5 to 4kg.

Mystic serves both retail and processing markets with storage capability until March. This variety exhibits consistent growth cycles, ease of harvesting, and robust plant health. Its small core and easy peeling characteristics, combined with a flexible harvest window, make it highly versatile. Its head weights typically range from 1.5 to 3.5kg.

Vinci, suitable for both retail and processing markets, offers extended storage until June. The variety demonstrates uniform growth, easy harvesting, and easy peeling qualities. Its dense structure, short core, and round shape make it particularly appealing. Its head weights vary from 1.5kg for retail to 3.5kg for processing.

Future-proof iceberg varieties with full mildew resistance

Syngenta's advanced Iceberg varieties feature comprehensive mildew resistance across the range. Ice Metal, specifically designed for spring and autumn cultivation, leads the portfolio alongside new varieties LICN23-2537 and LICN21-1340, all offering protection against future mildew races.

LICN23-2537 delivers retail-sized heads with exceptional internal fill and harvest efficiency. This variety stands out for its controlled filling rate, compact core structure, and superior bottom quality.

LICN21-1340 excels as a versatile dual-purpose variety, distinguished by its effortless harvesting, consistent head formation, and premium bottom quality. Its robust frame is complemented by vigorous growth and outstanding plant health. The variety also offers reliable germination rates and enhanced bolting resistance.
