Our Commitment to Securing Your Yield

Syngenta leads in ToBRFV resistance, providing Jordanian growers with early, reliable protection to secure high-quality yields for export markets. Our dual portfolio serves all production systems: strong indeterminate varieties for high-tech protected cultivation, and an expanding determinate range—including CARACAL—for open-field and diverse needs. This ensures market-driven solutions for every grower in Jordan.

Syngenta's Tomato Advantage

Our leadership comes from advanced genetics and a focused strategy. We were first to deliver ToBRFV-resistant varieties, protecting yield, fruit quality, and export market acceptance. Our expanding disease-resistance package strengthens crop resilience and simplifies management. With new determinate options like CARACAL, we offer greater flexibility and profitability for growers.

Syngenta's Leadership Against ToBRFV

Syngenta pioneered resistance to the Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV), announcing our first solutions in late 2020, with commercial varieties planted as early as 2021.

Facing a highly contagious virus that can cause up to 70% yield loss, our commitment is absolute. We currently offer resistant varieties and continue to invest heavily in research. Our goal is to integrate broad-spectrum resistance and new mechanisms of action to provide sustainable, long-term solutions against this fast-evolving virus.

New determinate variety CARACAL

CARACAL is a highly reliable, staked, elongated red tomato variety known for its resilience and vigor.

  • Plant: Vigorous with short internodes, making it easy to cultivate.
  • Fruit: Elongated, uniform red color, offering excellent firmness and very good post-harvest shelf life ($100-120\text{g}$). Low sensitivity to blossom end rot.
